Safe Holiday Travel Tips
The team at Motheral Jones Law wants you to enjoy your holiday season. Just a friendly reminder of some safe driving tips for the holidays:
Plan ahead for your road trips. Please be sure you have your car inspected, get an oil change if you need it, and check your tires are in good condition. Have your license with you and have your registration documents in your glove box. Check to make sure your registration documents and inspection are up to date.
Drive without distractions. Do not text and drive. We know you are busy making holiday plans, but they can wait if you are driving. If you are using GPS, set it up before you embark on your trip and secure it on your dash so you can view it easily. We at Motheral Jones Law have seen texting while driving collisions that end in death.
Packing your car correctly. If you are hauling gifts, luggage, even your laundry home from college, be sure that nothing is obstructing your rear view or side views.
Check the weather. If we are fortunate to get snow on Christmas, be aware of when it is hitting the roads you are taking. It is worth waiting until the salt trucks clear the roads to wait out dangerous conditions.
Do not drink and drive. This is a time of year to celebrate, but please do not drink and then operate your car. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. We at Motheral Jones law have handled holiday death cases that were caused by a drunk driver. If only that individual had called an Uber or Lyft or a friend or relative to drive them to their home. These collisions are tragic and avoidable. It is best to be overly cautious and do not drive at all once alcohol has been consumed.
Call us if you are a victim of a holiday collision. If you, your relatives, friends or colleagues are a victim of a collision, call us so we can help you. We are open over the holidays, and we will help guide you through the process. The sooner we get involved to protect your rights after a collision the better. We take over all of the phone calls so you can focus on getting better after you are injured from someone else’s negligence.
From everyone at Motheral Jones Law we wish you a happy and safe holiday season.
